Państwo Madagaskar jest położone na wyspie o tej samej nazwie na Oceanie Indyjskim. Jest to czwarta co do wielkości wyspa na świecie z powierzchnią 587 040 km². Madagaskar jest byłą kolonią francuską z tego powodu oprócz malgaskiego mówi sie tam po francusku.
